That worked. Thanks. (It would have taken me quite a while to get that far, since I was *so sure* that the garbage in the message buffer was decrypted dump data not encrypted message data - I decided that based on the patterns in the data, and the fact that the garbage produced by vxfs filesytems was different than for ext3 filesystems)
