Which machine? The server, this machine, is a tarball build, with everything in /usr/local/etc/amanda. This did it, but had to add "lathe.coyote.den root amindexd amidxtaped" to the servers /home/amanda/.amandahosts file. I now have an amrecover prompt, and should be able to proceed.
