Good idea, but patching the source code is kind of awkward
after having got used to rpm/deb packages :-)

I understand that true macro calls are not desirable here, but would it be
possible to generally change from
  $1 eq 'SCORE' ? (0+sprintf("%.3f",$spam_level+$boost))
to
  $1 eq 'SCORE' ? (sprintf("%03.2f",$spam_level+$boost))

I would think this makes more sense to everybody, doesn't it?
