The wine filemanager? Do you mean you navigate to the quote.exe or broker.exe with the linux file manager, Then run the file using wine? (ie right click, "Run with Wine") Anyway, I just tested AB/AQ this way. And it worked fine. Your problem is something else i think.
Please confirm you have downloaded and imported the AB_Wine_Overides.reg file into the Wine registy.
