Louis,
Yup...Better switch to something more reliable like QP3. Or do both.

If you have a few favorites , you can check the web site and see what's what.
When they are available, ie current or historic or both. That may help in your
decision. Additionally, if you do much quant type analysis, not visual, your
"answers" will change with yahoo and other paid services.

If you send yahoo an inquery, I have not on Bill's original observation, the
usual answer is " we, yahoo, don't control the quality of the data...sorry
about that."

  Hi David,

So you mean that for many quotes I have to download current every night (and
before it is reseted) to be sure to have the data?

That is a huge problem if it is the case! ( I mean: I am not at home every
evening).

Louis, If you look at yahoo web site, you'll find that SRLM.ob has no
Historical prices after 26 MAR 08. This one must be downloaded with yahoo
current to "stay current". There are many like that. Many indexes will not
download historic data, only current or today's data can be downloaded.
This problem which is different from the one Bill was describing, can be
seen on the yahoo web site. Just check to see if historic data is shown. If so
it can be downloaded. If not you must do it daily with yahoo current.
Free data, you gotta stay on your toes:)

      Hi,

I have the same problem. One example: SRLM.ob Goes from 03-27 directly
to 05-05. Can't backfill in between.

I have noticed last few weeks a growing number of tickers that don't
download in yahoo current and need to be downloaded in yahoo historic. For
example, out of 645 ETFs, 150 or so will not download in yahoo current after
the market has been open one hour this morning. Some of these are low volume,
infrequently traded tickers. But in past this was only a handleful, maybe 10-20
or so. Now, tt seems to be tickers that trade up to a few thousand, but they
are trading and just not being reported. They will report EOD, Yahoo Historic
later.

I'm sure it will change again. That's Yahoo.

It sounds like you are attempting to download from the Yahoo Current
(Daily) server after it has been reset for the next day (reset time might not
be constant). If so, you have to use historical data which in your case (late
at night) will always work.

Lately I'm getting large numbers of symbols coming up N/A on the
Daily update (done late at night).

The data is present in the historical download.

              Does Yahoo just stink?
