> Anyone have any solutions to why these tubes are getting so hot?

I had the same problem with my external receiver audio amp. It uses a pair of 6V6's in the output. I checked all voltages: filament, bias, screen and plate, plus cathode current, and all were within spec according to the RCA tube manual. Still the tubes ran super hot, and only lasted a few months before they began to test weak. I increased the cathode resistance and decreased the screen voltage, which dropped the cathode current substantially. The tubes now run cooler, and so far, have not crapped out prematurely. I have quite a few 6V6's on hand, but tubes are still scarce enough that I can't afford to replace them every few months.
