I took my TH-F7e and a small magmount to France, Germany and Switzerland
last year, but we drove.

What a difference getting the ferry across makes, compared to flying.  I
realised as we went through the Customs area that I still had my
Leatherman in my pocket.  "Oh", said the very helpful Customs lady who
was checking under the car with a mirror, "would you mind leaving that
in the car, when you actually get onto the ferry?"  I hate to think what
an airport security screener would have made of the toolbox, not to
mention the very sharp knives in the camping gear...
