Okay, I sort of agree here and sort of don't. I don't want to copy msn's gui completely, we can do better than that. We should be aiming for "amsn, with msns look and feel, but better!" - for example, look at the mockup Lee sent, it's just like msn7.5 is, and look at all that goddam wasted space!!! In the mockup I sent, we could have the remember me etc checkbuttons, and still have room for the extra stuff (did you read the article btw? or jsut look at the pretty pic :P cause I explained why it's good to have that extra stuff there..)
Yepp :) I would only be coding the GUI side remember, unless I get more time and energy...so an event will jsut get sent "GuiRememberMeCheckbuttonOn" or something..... then something else will pick it up and create a profile for that account.
Yeah, thats what I think too. makes sense.
Aww
Great stuff there, really! that's what I was talking about with Karel on
the other thread...
I think your mockup looks really great! but is it possible with Tcl ? Or
is it possible with one of your mega widgets? would speed be an issue ?

I think we should copy MSN messenger's GUI.. don't forget our first and
primary catch phrase.. "amsn, with msn's messenger look and feel" and it
was in order for our users to use amsn and feel like they were still using
msn messenger... a real clone... now msn messenger improved a lot, but
amsn kept his msn 4.0 look and feel as Alberto said.

One of the nicest thing I see in msn messenger and feel like amsn should
also have is the login screen embeded in the main window, have a 'remember
me', 'remember password' and 'sign me in automatically' buttons...
especially the 'remember me' button, as this only one button replaces all
the profiling system, connect with default profile, use existing profile,
create new profile, what is a profile, etc... very very VERY confusing to
users... but 'remember me', so easy and neat! :) I think we should adapt
that...

I think a toolbar thing would be very nice, in a chatwindow,
you'll have the toolbar and a button bar (like the current one),
difference would be actions in the toolbar (start audio, webcam, send
nudge, FT, etc..) while text specific stuff in the button bar (change
font, insert smiley, send ink, ...)
Yeah, thats what I think too. makes sense.
Tom.. keep it up:)
p.s.: we missed you :)
Aww
