Hey there, I was looking at an old tracker item I once created (in 2003) for aMSN on tk-toolkit, here is the link http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=802296&group_id=12997&atid=362997 On now that we changed our philosophy (of amsn having nothing compiled in it), I thought we could go with such a solution.. look here : http://wiki.tcl.tk/199 You see the text widget with a background ? it's a hypertext widget actually, here's the man page : http://www-bio3d-igbmc.u-strasbg.fr/doclib/blt/htext.html So how about we change the chatwindow and CL text widgets to use that ?? maybe the CL would be difficult because it uses fancy stuff, but the chat window doesn't do anything, I'm sure it's doable (the only problem I would see is concerning smileys being elided (needed for the copy/paste of smileys) If we can modify that, it would be great! Other possibility.. If we realize it would be a waste of time to implement blt style htext in amsn and you prefer to avoid adding that extra dependency too, then I think that since tile doesn't have a 'text' widget and that Chameleon doesn't implement one. What we could do add BLT as a dependency of Chameleon and wrap up that old good text widget just like we did for other tile widgets and make 'transparent background text widgets' part of the Chameleon 'widget suite'.
I think this is also a good idea : http://wiki.tcl.tk/10515 having a plugin that makes the CL fade in/out with transparency (only for win/mac), or set a fixed transparency. I know this was going to be implemented in winskin plugin but it never was. Maybe just maintain winskin ? What could be awesome is to add this too : http://people.man.ac.uk/~zzcgudf/tcl/shapeidx.html or http://www2.cmp.uea.ac.uk/~fuzz/tktrans/default.html wikis : http://wiki.tcl.tk/5764 http://wiki.tcl.tk/6229 Anyways.. just random ideas... but the blt htext thing is good I think. what do you think ?
