Yes, indeed.  My purpose in joining the list was to try to help.  I'm aware 
that one of the problems developers face is not being able to test on every 
possible piece of hardware, and this is one way that non-programmers can 
help.

My current webcam uses a gspcav1 driver, and I also have a fairly old Philips 
webcam that uses the pwc driver.  I'd be glad to help in any way I can.

Now - back to the preview.  Thanks to all who replied.  All the methods 
mentioned give me a box telling me that my ports are well configured, the 
webcamsn and capture extensions are loaded, and so on.  'Change video 
settings' allows me to choose the webcam or my capture card, and the 
remaining button takes me to the on-line FAQ page.  While the feedback in 
that box is good, I can't see any way of getting a preview, so I don't know 
what my contacts will see until I am actually in a video session with them.  
Maybe this is the part still to be completed?

I will take this to the forums if you wish, but I'd prefer to help test things 
if I can.
