Dear Analog-helpers,
I'm new to Analog (and I'm not a programmer/techie person; I just dabble in
html, so am feeling quite naive right now!). I've been reading the Analog
help faqs, etc., but still can not quite figure out a dilemma which someone
else on this list posted last April. First, though, let me ask this perhaps
stupid question, is the line below for the config file correct?
LOGFILE d://db-web/log/PathsOfLearning.net.log
If not, what is the correct format? (I've tried several variations this
morning, and yes, I have ftp'ed the above log file to my computer and the
directory and file name are spelled correctly too.)
Second, here's the question that someone else was puzzling over which I
still haven't solved (and maybe it's as simple as my incorrect formatting of
the above config line):
> when I try to use anlgform.html (and anlgform.exe, renamed from
> anlgform.cgi), the only result is a Win95 "Save" window which wants to
> save anlgform.exe.
The response in April was:
> I assume you're getting anlgform.exe via a web server. It won't work
if it's a
> local file.
> If so, you need to tell your server to run anlgform.exe, not just
send it out.
> Normally you can put it in a folder called something like /cgi-bin/
.>>
However, I wrote to my web host (who does not have a cgi-bin because he
provides CF hosting), and inquired about this matter. He responded:
<<I just read the help file in the Docs directory. It says
*** If you log in to your ISP's machine from your home machine, you have two
options. If you have the right permissions, you can run analog on your ISP's
machine. Otherwise, you can download (e.g., ftp) the logfiles from their
machine to yours, and then run analog on your machine.
Follow option two. that means you don't need to have CGI support, you can do
everything locally.>>
Ok, that sounds great. But I've ftp'ed the logs to my computer, along with
the full Analog 3.31, and I still get past the above saving analog.exe
dilemma. Also, when I do open the report.html for analog, it says:
Web Server Statistics for Paths of Learning
Resource Center
Program started at Mon-11-Oct-1999 10:50.
HOWEVER, there's nothing in the summary section. Hrmph. Any help on these
dilemmas would be MOST appreciated!!
Kindest regards,
Robin
