Hi All,

I've been setting up the log configs and log rotation/automation process for
our website. Last month, we cut over from an ISP to a co-located facility,
and went from one set of server logs to two sets (two servers load-balancing
one website). Twice we also ran failover tests and had to switch the
website back to the ISP. Also, we changed from separate log files to
combined logs, and altered the cron to run at 11:45 pm rather than 4 am.
Our website runs on Apache web server with Linux OS.

I recently ran individual daily reports using the same config file, changing
only the log file names and date range, and found that somewhere along the
way, the successful requests dropped by about a factor of 15. Since nothing
in our business model indicates that there should have been such a drastic
drop, I can only conclude that it was something we changed in the cron or
configs that is causing the problem.

Has any of you had any experience with this sort of chaos, and can clue me
in on what direction to take next?

Thanks in advance,

Geraldine Golveo
