That figure of 30% to 40% seems to be mirrored by most of the websites
we host, so I doubt you're doing anything "wrong" as such.
However, it may be that as your total traffic has grown your reporting
runs are getting longer, and more DNS lookups are timing out. If you're
running Analog on a *nix platform of some sort, you can use the
DNSTIMEOUT option to make Analog wait longer for a reply.

DNSTIMEOUT 0 will remove the timeout entirely, i.e. Analog will wait
forever until it receives a reply.
Looking at the source code, it appears that the default value for
DNSTIMEOUT is 5 seocnds, so increasing it to DNSTIMEOUT 20 might well
give you a better result. Indeed, you've piqued my curiosity here, and
I'm going to run a few tests on some of our hosted sites and see if we
get better results.
You might also consider using one of the external DNS lookup programs,
listed on the helper applications page. I haven't tried them, though.
