A pre-processing hook invoking an external program for rewriting the log file
entries prior to processing would help here.

Something like

        PreprocessFilter /home/me/resolve.pl

which would receive log file lines one at a time from stdin and write log
file lines (or discard lines) to stdout.

In addition to external DNS modifications this would also come handy to
reformat log file entries which are not compatible with analog, e.g.
Cookie values containing double-quotes etc.
