The log files that I have access to, at least, are rotated monthly. I set up the account around the middle of last month, and the access log seems to have been rotated at around 6am on Sept. 30th. I don't know if they are running Analog against that or some sort of "daily log". One thing I can try today, though, is to rename the cache file today. If I check the stats tomorrow and they only show today's stats, then I'll have that answer. Sound like a reasonable test? After taking a moment to compare the number of hits reported by Webalizer on the same logs (they run both analyzers), the hit counts reported by Analog do seem to be severely elevated (Analog reports 32897 for September, while Webalizer reports 4613). Because of that, and other stats growing by themselves, they do seem to be running against the monthly logs after all. I don't check the Analog stats that often anyway but, rather than get them to change their methods (which they seem dead set against), I'd much rather keep it from causing me problems by removing a cache file that isn't needed. What's scary is that, by deleting that file once a day, the stats might become useful again :-) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Brian Smith // avalon73 at arthurian dot nu // http://www.arthurian.nu/ Software Developer // Gamer // Webmaster // System Administrator Truly great madness cannot be achieved without significant intelligence. -- Henrik Tikkanen +------------------------------------------------------------------------ | This is the analog-help mailing list.
