I thought so. But what can I do if upgrading the underlying OS is not an option?

Would it help to recompile analog or something else, like glibc?

I remember some situations like these, where hardcoded values inside the source of
glibc were responsible for such limitations. I cannot go into modifying the source,
but tweaking some switches and recompilation would be ok.

On the other hand, that means, that my question is now off-topic, that is, operating
system related. I don't want to pollute this list with such problems. Anyway I'd
appreciate any pointers or help in this case to my e-mail address only, not to this
list.

It's simply not an analog problem.

Case closed. Thank you! :)

Greetings Nicolai
