2.4.0 is ancient.

A reiserfs that does not support large files is also ancient. According to
the link you provided, reiserfs 3.6.x has LFS and was part of the kernel as
of 2.4.1 - which dates back to Jan 2001.

JFS is already in the kernel - as of 2.4.20. And you can easily patch any
post-17 kernel too.

I'm running 2.4.20 with JFS112 and reiserfs from 2.4.20 - large files is not
a problem on either. I believe ext3 should also be fine with LFS.
