You don't respect the juridictional order of your PLAC and FORM tags of your header. On the left side, we can see : Utrecht, Baarn, , , , , So we have six comas, so seven juridictional entities. Please open your gedcom file with an editor, and check the header, maybe 8 or 10 lines from the top, you should see something like : 0 HEAD 1 SOUR ANCESTRIS 2 VERS 0.6.0.2360 2 NAME Ancestris 2 CORP Ancestris Team 3 ADDR http://www.ancestris.org, http://www.ancestris.com 1 DEST ANY 1 DATE 4 JAN 2012 2 TIME 10:07:52 1 SUBM @B1@ 1 FILE francois.ged 1 GEDC 2 VERS 5.5 2 FORM Lineage-Linked 1 CHAR UTF-8 1 LANG French 1 PLAC 2 FORM Lieudit,Commune,Code_INSEE,Département,Région,Pays Of course yours will be in dutch or english. In mine, I have six juridictional entities, so all places in my genealogy must follow that number and order. In yours, on the right side, you have : BIRT   DATE 1888   PLAC Baarn, Utrecht your mistake is there. You should have : Baarn, Utrecht, , , , , if you want to be helped when you enter your data, go to Tools, Preferences, and check the box "Distinguish the court for places". Then restart Ancestris. Another tip, you should add the country too if you want the geoview to be helped to localize the cities, hamlet, etc. The more info you can give the better it will be. So at least : Utrecht, Baarn, , , , , Nederland About the fact that you have a difference between both views, one shows the city first (geo), and the editor, the hamlet first, it was a request made by users. They wanted the geoview to display the city first. when I select "edit this view" the log shows this stack trace java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 6 Here, we have something to work on.
