Google doesn't control the carrier networks and they don't make devices; so on that front, they can't have anything to report. They have the SDK and some upcoming services, like the App Market. It has been leaked (no announcement) that Google will not release the SDK to the general community for sometime. Google has indicated they are working on things like the App Market.
I'm not making excuses for Google or kissing their ass here. I think their SDK move was a big mistake and has caused damage to the community, but without releasing an SDK, what do they have to report?
