There is an article about it on ZDNet. I have to admit I am
suspicious: I have seen such projects fail to offer what is promised
too often in the past to believe the glowing description of App
Inventor on ZDNet -- or in Google Labs.

As they pointed out in the ZDNet talkbacks: app development is hard.
Good app development is even harder. The glowing promises of making
everyone an app developer sweep these basic truths under the rug.

There is another basic truth logically prior to both of these:
developing a finished product has a deep analogy to figure skating. A
good figure skater makes her impressive display look effortless. But
in fact, there were years of effort in preparation for that one
moment, years that hide beneath that polished moment of display.

The same is true of good apps. There is a huge amount of effort,
sometimes even years, that went into enabling the user to perform a
useful and interesting task in just a few flicks and keystrokes.

In short, App Inventor is more likely to prove useful for prototyping
rather than for development of polished apps.
