I take back that it's not an issue with the images getting confused... I changed the color of the land image and I can clearly see this image on the widget when it goes crazy. About the background and source images I tested by using only src images but that didn't help... issue is still there... I'm still inclined this is a bug in Android. I tested on few phones and I can reproduce the issue every time.
