Thanks Nobu Games, but I'm not worried about what to tell customers (got that covered), I'm worried about how to fix the problem or make sure the fewest users are affected.
In other words, does it make sense to deploy another update with installLocation="auto". Does that improve matters? What is root cause, is this a known android bug, etc. If the problem is due to faulty SD cards, then installLocation=auto may help but only if SD card is unavailable during install (cause then it will install on internal). If SD card is working during install, the phone might install on SD anyway, then SD card gets unmounted or something weird and all apps on SD card become unavailable. Anyway thanks for the info with your phone.
