"...but I don't think most people see these products as consumables in the
same way you do"

Perhaps not. But I think this is what will keep the Android Market from
being as big as the iPhone App Store. For the most part, people don't go
into Game Stop, buy the newest Xbox 360 game on Friday, play it all night,
then return it the next day once they've beaten it. The video game market
would be dead if that was the case. As the Android Market could be as well.

I'm not asking for something outrageous, just a trial version option for
developers. If you like the demo, then you buy the app - with no return
policy. After all, you generally don't get refunds after you watch the
latest blockbuster movie at the theatre:

"The movie was horrible, especially the ending. I want a refund!"

(If that was the case, the Star Wars prequels would have been a box office
failure)

I'm buying a Mac this week just for iPhone development. Not because I want
to, but because I feel I have to. Unless Google makes a change that makes
it more desirable for developers to make apps for the Android platform,
there are going to be many comments in the Android Market asking why the
apps on the market 'suck.'
