For what it's worth, I had a similar issue. I didn't get any error messages, just a window blink and immediate shutdown with no error messages. The lack of any error message was very frustrating.
But then I realized that I had not installed Java since installing Windows 7. So, I installed the Java SDK, and this solved my problem. Hope this helps someone! -- PJ P.S.
