A good way of getting a price idea would be to run a closed beta and ask 
"What would you pay for this if you hadn't been given it?". You'll get a 
variety of prices in, but you should probably aim somewhere between the 
average and the upper end.

The reason I wouldn't say just take the average is because people value 
things below what they would normally pay for them because they normally 
price things for a second hand market with a discount to sell as opposed 
to pricing them as new.
