The other thing worth pointing out is that some of the G1 Apps are
clearly connected to Google -- Gmail, Contacts, Map... Does the
Android division-of-labor dictate that all out-of-the-box Apps are
totally telco developed and maintained (but must use Google backends
of course). If Google wants Android to be a successful platform that
connects to Google's services, Google must bear at least some
responsibility for those core Apps. On the "real" web, Google goes to
great lengths to ensure usability of these core services. Its
ridiculous that from the G1 GMail application I cannot add an email
contact to Contacts (without a ridiculous cut/paste with a dozen UI
interactions (buttons, popup menus, etc.) in between.
