The retail store I purchased from had the prices posted over by the
display G1, so I would point to that  :)

You should be fine at any T-Mobile branch.  I happened to purchase
mine from the T-Mobile at Dobson & Baseline (from Chad, who was very
cool).

By the way, unless the prices have changed since the day of release,
people's prices are wrong.  There's no way you could get the phone
with a 1 year contract for $189.99.  On the day of release, the phone
was $300 with a 1 year contract, $400 with no contract, ~ $175 with a
2 year contract.  That said, things may have changed a lot since
October 22.

If you get the phone without a contract, I understand that it's very
easy to unlock for use with another carrier.  Unfortunately, you'd be
stuck on Edge as T-Mobile is the only carrier with G1-compatible 3G in
the US (altho most of the rest of the world has G1-compatible 3G).
