The market ToS require all payments for apps downloaded from the market to go through the market. So "here is a free trial" is only acceptable when followed by "..there is no full version yet" or "the full version is available in the market". There are quite a few list threads related to that and the google people have been very forthcoming about the reasoning and problems they have had with carrier acceptance, etc.
Google has also been very clear that payment is going to be an option in first quarter, hopefully as early as mid January. It is somewhat misleading to leave that fact out when answering..
