So, everyone's agreed the timeout is annoying... any further news on fixes, since this thread is older now?
The 5 second timeout while on the phone makes the device almost unusable for basic navigation through phone support menus. Also, since when using the keyboard during a call the numbers you type aren't displayed, it's hard to correctly enter longer sequences (like account numbers, etc.).
