There's an ad going on India right now by one of the carriers promoting their local SMS. Usually 2 people (friends, love, family et al) are close to each other and they talk to each other by SMS. Its like 10paise/min or something, but I sit at home watching in wonder why the heck they are not using an IM service..
The whole carrier value added services in funny in quite a number of ways. PS: Upon further deep thoughts, people in India do not usually get a data plan unless they own a smart phone like gphone or an iphone. Case in point - ME!! (Only ADP1 forced me to a data plan). take care, Muthu Ramadoss. http://linkedin.com/in/tellibitz +91.98403.48914 http://androidrocks.googlecode.com - Android Consulting.
