The idea of a common copy protection API that JBQ floated would go a long way to easing this situation because it would reduce the need for a developer to adapt their app for each app stores copy protection, but at the end of the day if the developer doesn't want additional revenue streams then that's their choice. After several months with a G1, I've asked 3 developers if they would sell their app outside of the Android market, but each time I've been refused. Most of the time I can find free alternatives or write my own, but just occasionally there is a pay-for app I really want that is only available on the android market or download via an illicit source...
