HOW RIGHT YOU ARE.  For anyone else wondering this, I went to the
Google Checkout site (https://checkout.google.com/main) and gave my
card # there.   Then I went to buy something from the Market on the
G1, and it asked me if this was the right credit card, only showing
the last four digits.  Leave it to Google to do something right.
