I admit maybe it's a failure of imagination on my part, but I REALLY don't get the point of an underpowered OS on a netbook when a more powerful one (or three) is readily available. Maybe I demand more of mine; my MSI Wind boots both OS X and XP, and I can't imagine why I'd want LESS power. At the present speed of developmment it will be late in the 21st century before Android can power my needs on a laptop/ netbook.
Someone would have to be a slick talker on the level of P.T. Barnum to get me to go for an OS written in Java on my laptop in the first place. What am I not getting?
