You wouldn't believe how much I disagree with that!
I know quite a few people - myself including - who paid their houses
with 3rd part software development during the Palm boom earlier this
decade.
Some grew their business and became larger companies, some stayed
small and just sit on a bunch of cash, some invested in other
businesses and so on and so forth.
But one thing is for sure - it has NOT been difficult for third party
developers to make money.
I would agree that it's probably hard to make same amount of money
today on iPhone that we used to make writing Palm OS software back in
the days. There are several reasons for that, but truth is I do not
have enough data to support this argument - only the opinions of peers
I have spoken to.
