True, but it's always fun to speculate.

Things to remember;

1) A *lot* of the code comes from 3rd parties. Look at the number of
platform/external objects in Gitweb to get an idea of how much isn't written by
them.

2) The development time has already been years. Google acquired Android Inc. in
July 2005 and at that time they were already working on software for mobiles.
That would give them 2 years at Google on top of what they had done before.

3) I've seen teams of decent coders write a lot of code in a year, and given
Googles recruitment process I doubt they're hiring too many novice coders.

Mikes right, without looking in to the box you can't tell the exact correct
answer, but from previous experiences you can get an idea of what's in the box
from the noises it makes and the things that come out of it.

Al.

Whoa, Schrodingers Cat springs to mind

Al is both right and wrong as are you Mike. Without the ability to look into
the Google box all states are correct, so any further disussion is pointless.

You're assuming that every developer working on Android posts to these
forums. That's a bad assumption. As to the size of the Android team,
the codebase is many millions of lines long. Do you really think a
team of 5-10 people could produce such a giant codebase? That's way
off base.
