Very true.

There are networks everywhere that are totally insecure, wireless or
not. There's no telling where the load distributing routers are going
to send data once it leaves your provider, and your provider itself
may not be secure -- take for example a residential cable network...
not that difficult to read things off there.

BUT, the only thing being transmitted over the air is what you are
actually reading/writing to the network. This does NOT expose
*everything*.
