That is kind of a stupid question since 1) there is no such thing as a "g2", 2) there is no such thing as a "g1 developer phone". The only developer phone running android is "android developer phone 1", which is an HTC DREAM with an engineering bootloader.
Now if you are under some moronic assumption that HTC MAGIC is somehow a "g2" (which is nonsense), I can assure you that NO, HTC MAGIC will never be a developer phone. It wouldn't make any sense at all since it is TECHNICALLY INFERIOR to "Android developer phone 1" (it lacks a physical keyboard). If you want to test things for HTC MAGIC compatibility with HTC DREAM, simply don't open the keyboard.
