This is a problem that Pocket PC developers ran into. For years the only resolution 240x320. Then in the last few years they added other resolutions. One problem was the Treo 240x240 display which cut off 1/3 of the content on a program written for the standard display. For most developers it wasn't worth making and redesigning the GUI of the products to fit the new displays. So we just say those resolutions are not supported. Maybe the best solutions is to use browser like interfaces that can always scale to whatever the resolution of the device is. Probably not a good solution for games though.
