You really should head on over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=446 and browse through their threads. You'd be amazed at the amount of information available there. And besides, most of the rooting and custom ROMs are coming from their members so I'd stick to their forums when it comes to this topic.
