The G1 I hadn't since that's my original Android phone and the one I use
personally on a day-to-day basis. I've used other Android phones sans
SIM (e.g., Google Ion).

But, since I'm a nice guy, and I need good Steeler karma (looking for
Mendenhall to score 4 or so touchdowns tonight for my fantasy team)...

:: powers off G1 ::

:: struggles to remember how to get the #$#$()# rear cover off ::

:: pops out SIM ::

:: fires up phone ::

:: wishes the G1 had the terribly cute 'droid animation on startup that
the Tattoo has ::

and everything is fairly normal. It points out in a few places that you
lack a SIM card. But WiFi works, the Browser works, etc.

Again, you probably need a SIM with a data plan initially to get it
registered. After that, you should be fine. Just don't try to make a call.
