The G1 is extremely susceptible to water damage! Mine is now fried because I was using it in heavy rain! When I opened the case there were literally puddles in there.
It looks as if it could be difficult to get them to replace it. While I would consider this a manf fault (there were no warnings about using it in the rain, shouldn't a handset be able to be rained on?), and therefore covered, whereas Brightstar will probably contend that they do not cover water damage.
