I don't have such problems, though I am using the European version of 
the Droid called 'Milestone'.

You should check the details the device provides concerning its energy 
consumption. The processes/networks are listed with their corresponding 
energy consumptions, so you should be able to identify the app that 
consumpts all the energy.

Compared to the iphone I would say the Droid's battery life is equal or 
better. And it's better than any windows mobile phone I've ever had.
