Hello Matt, I realize I am replying to a nearly 3 week old post, but whatever, also I have not read through this list in about 9 months or so, so I apologize in advance for any ignorance.
I applaud you on achieving your status as "top poster" for this discussion group I hope you feel very proud. Besides "doing Android longer than most" what projects are you working on? Do you have anything up on the Android Market? I personally found this discussion group interesting an engaging about a year ago, while all of us Android developers were using it as a place to come together and complain about paid apps mostly. At first we all complained about when paid apps would appear because Google would not tell us anything. Once paid apps were announced many complained about not being able to use paypal to receive payments. Once paid apps were live we complained about how bad the market experience was. After a while of that we complained about how inadequate the Android Market developers console was. After that, well there was just a lot of complaining about the same thing over and over again and truthfully it became very dull, so I stopped following the group. It has now been almost exactly a year since paid apps went live and some of my gripes form back then still remain: I wish I could generate detailed reports form the developers console, like the ability to see sales for specific apps. I had a situation with a graphics artist that I was working with that required reporting sales numbers, and I ended up having to write my own shoddy solution using the Google Checkout xml api. I wish i had the ability to respond to comments for my apps on the market. Market comments have come a long way since i started posting apps in December 2008, back then 90% of comments were usually not about the app and were filled with hate and profanity. I did not have an Android device back then so I had to go to a T-Mobile store in order to see the comments for my first app, I will never forget the first comment I read for it "F*** this S***". I was so confused, but can now laugh about it. That brings up another point, why can't developers view the comments for their apps through the developers console? There is always cyrket.com but that was not even working for a few months, and this just seems to me to be something that Google should have implemented. Not every developer has an Android phone. So yeah, there are some topics that might get people interacting with each other. Not so sure if forming a community around the negative is the best idea, but that is what I remember from a year ago around here. ---snctln www.snctln.com -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Discuss" group.
