I think it's actually worse.

Android versions were important before, but it's been Google the one
making it really important since they started to release apps only for
2.0. (Buzz, Maps, Google Shopper, Earth, etc.)

While I've been a supporter of Android (aka fanboy), I'm really
disappointed with the way things are being done. Just so you get the
idea in Canada.

- We only have the Moto Milestone in Telus with 2.0
- We still don't have paid apps.
- Motorola JUST announced 3 phones running 1.5
- Rogers phones don't have OTA updates, we had to download 2 zip files
and copy them to the SD card (not what I call friendly)

In general I won't say that Android is doomed like PCWorld (
http://www.pcworld.com/article/189969/google_android_is_doomed_to_selfdestruct.html
) said, but I would say that they allowed this fragmentation and now
they a mess with companies releasing (and annoucing) products with
obsolete versions of Android.

Why doesn't Google ask that if they want to be a Google Experience
device, they should provide updates for certain amount of time.

Very disappointed.
