Hey Guys,

Initially, was intending to just focus on the narrow high-end market for
apps. SlideME and AndAppstore, seemed to take care of the alternative market
scene; so I didn't see much point targeting this segment.

Recently, I've been following the flubbed release of SlideME's compatibility
support. It looks as though support for Android 1.5 devices is completely
broken. This would affect most of the HTC distributions. One user doesn't
see any apps after 2009. I've also seen reports of Android 2.x devices also
being broken, where the applications won't install. This makes the developer
of the app look pretty bad as well. For four days, this has been going on.
To me, this is amateurish, particularly for on-device distributions. It
reflect badly all around.

I do keep a frequent eye on what's going on at SlideME and one disturbing
thing I've noticed is that negative comments about SlideME are often deleted
from the forums and comments. If a developer hasn't been paid and complains,
the comment is deleted. Or in another case, a reported bug is removed. And
these are just the ones I've seen. I believe in openness and this just
doesn't cut it. This is not the company I started. It looks to be an attempt
to cover up whatever is going on.

Even though I left SlideME four months ago, I do feel somewhat personally
responsible, as I was pitching the cause and need of SlideME for two years
prior. I definitely put my money where my mouth is and don't complain about
something unless I'm willing to back it up.

So I'm going to open up free app invitations for the general community. Just
use 'ZappMarket Wiggle' for the invite code. Paid app features are still
closed beta, so e-mail me for the code to enable those features.

I know it takes time and effort to build up a community of developers (for
everyone involved) but it doesn't do anyone any good to have their apps
hosted on a half-broken site. If you are interested in continuing beyond
where SlideME has stopped, please join me at ZappMarket and let's rebuild a
healthy, interactive community.

Thanks,

Shane Isbell (Founder of ZappMarket)
