I haven't released an app yet, but I'm leaning toward a time limited
trial with a server verified license. And hopefully make it work in
markets that don't have paid apps in Android Market.

Will that attract more pirates? I don't know. At least with
activations, the pirates would have to actually write/hack some code
instead of root/copy/paste.

I think it will be hard for users to evaluate my app based on a
feature limited trial. Users may tend to assume that features are in
the pro app that aren't, or even that some bug they encounter (should
there be any such) is fixed in the pro version when it may not be.

I'm skeptical of the revenue potential of ads in apps. Maybe if I were
aiming for a .99 app. As it is, I am aiming for a $10 app, on the high
side of today's perceptions, and not sure I can make a profit even at
that with six months of development.
