I think it depends on how quickly phones with older versions get upgraded. If they are held back by add-ons like MOTOBLUR or Sense, that's a situation that the OEMs need to fix anyway. Older phones download less software than newer ones. And, with alternative apps and a mobile Web site, it isn't as if you can't tweet.
