I suspect everybody and their dog will start a "Android Store" to cash in on the "gold rush." Developer beware. Some will not be on the up and up and split town with the cash. It happened before and will happen again. Don't forget you can also use a e-seller service and sell your apps on your own site. I do that with DigitalRiver's SWReg which I've used for years (first with DigiBuy which DR replaced with SWReg). If you're worried about VAT and sales taxes they take care of that for you.

I read on AndroidPublisher.com that Google only allows developers from
the following countries to sell apps on the Android Market:

Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Spain, United
Kingdom and United States.

Is this true? If it is, isn't it highly unfair, and not to mention
against Google's stance on the openness of the Android Platform?

And if it's false, Google seriously needs to have a look at
AndroidPublisher who are charging 19% commission (over and above the
30% Google charge).
