Google actually *does* have certain opt-in controls available for
Android... called the "google experience", which, I believe, requires
use of the standard android "look". There is also a lower level opt-in
control that allows google applications to be installed, but lacks the
google BRANDING -- i.e. has gmail, maps, market, etc., but may
possibly have the OEM's uglyness plastered onto it.

Now as I understand it, these OEM uglinesses are just in the LAUNCHER
and possibly some WIDGETS. Android allows you to install an
alternative launcher, so you aren't stuck with that. All you really
lose is the space that their bloatui takes up.
