I didn't say they were in it just for fun. I said that they may be responding to market conditions instead of just following some type of plan.
You only need to look at the speed at which the nexus one web shop was announced, launched, changed, and the scheduled for closure to see that the chances of there being a "cast in stone" publicly announcable plan for even the next 6 months is quite small.
